A product of a narrow strip of land, this book holds a broad view of time and world. The fifteen poets included here live and work in an area bound by the shifting knots of the Saugatuck and Mianus Rivers in Fairfield County. But their poems reach for a universal language of human experience, and their locale becomes a part of the whole earth. These poets have worked together at The Poetry Center in Westport and Norwalk under the direction of Dale Shaw, a mythographer and poet who, in his own words, wears laughter in his hair. The collection includes such noted writers as Ruth Krauss and Doris Lund.
